Steve Jobs' tips to a good presentation
1. You have to know when not to use slides
Technology can really enhance a presentation. When overused however, it can be harmful. If you want to go into detail and engage your audience, for example, in a meeting for work with only a few other people, than reading straight off the slides isn't a very good idea. Know when to use your slides to make your presentation as authentic as possible.
2. Be clear and focused
Unnecessary info is very distracting. If a slide is covered in information your audience will be bored. If you talk on and on about information that is irrelevant to your message, your audience will lose focus. Some time even good points have to be cut from a presentation. Just choose what is needed.
3. Develop a good relationship with the audience
Jobs was all smiles on stage. He would be confident in himself. The audience would very easily be able to see this confidence, but at the same time, they wouldn't be overwhelmed by him. He would be confident, but humble. If he had come off as cocky, the audience wouldn't have liked him, or been able to fully receive his message.
4. Show your enthusiasm
Make sure you show how important your topic is to you. Show your enthusiastic about your topic. If you don't care about your message, why would your audience. Lack of enthusiasm can heavily damage your presentation. If your care, than your audience will care.
5. Don't focus on the numbers, but focus on what they mean
Make sure that your presentation isn't just a listing of a bunch of numbers. Focus on what the numbers mean. Go into detail about their importance. This will keep your audience interested.
